Music is probably the most widespread of the Cuban arts.
Since early XX century Cuban music started to expand beyond
the limits of the island, and today, the dancing rhythms
have transmitted the happiness and the joy of our music.
New and old-fashioned values share the same success.
The biggest of the orchestras in the country nourish from
interpreters of rigorous professional formation, graduates
from arts schools. They are constantly renewing in the
search for esthetic values and the effort to maintain
in the audience’s preference.
Lots
of unforgettable personalities remain. The Grammy Awards
in the different categories endorse the quality of Cuban
music. Stars like Juan Formell, Chucho Valdés and
projects like Buena Vista Social Club confirm the undeniable

Salas, Manuel Saumell and Ignacio Cervantes in the XIX century.
Also important are Amadeo Roldán and Alejandro García

Leo Brouwer and Harold Gramatges, Ibero American Prize Tomás
Luis de Victoria in 1996.

National Symphonic Orchestra, National Chorus, Camerata
Romeu, Orfeón Santiago and Exaudi chorus, have earned
the respect of every Cuban.
Electroacoustic
music has developed in Cuba since its beginnings. Today,
Juan Blanco, pioneer of this kind of music in Cuba, is considered
a classic at an international level.
Tradicional
Cuban trova has evolved Sindo Garay, Silvio Rodríguez
and Pablo Milanés have trascended very significantly
the borders of our country. The qualities of Cuban music
and lyrics have raised this style to the rank of cultural
phenomenon.
The
cultural Cuban roots nourish from folk and European traditions.
This has created musical styles of great popularity. Bands
like Los Papines, Los muñequitos de Matanzas, Síntesis
have revolutionized the conception of the melody in the
world. Country music features personalities like Celina
González and Polo Montañez, very popular in
Cuba.
